Table of Contents
When shopping on Amazon, it’s a good idea to sort items so that the ones who have high ratings are at the top.
However, high ratings can be deceptive. You may find an item with a five-star rating but that might be the result of only a single review.
Hence, you need to look for items that not only have high ratings but also a high number of reviews.
Quick Summary
In this post, we will discuss how you can sort your search results based on the number of reviews that the products have.
Let’s get started.
Sorting Items by Number of Reviews on Amazon
The functionality for sorting search results based on the number of reviews is a functionality that is present on many notable online.
However, it’s been glaringly missing on Amazon and has not been added to the platform despite consumers asking for it for years.
So, you can’t sort by the number of reviews on Amazon at all?
Without any help from a third-party app, you can’t do so. The closest you can get is sorting items by the average customer review.
You can do this by searching for an item and then clicking on the Sort by option in the top-right part of your screen as shown below:
Then, click on Avg. Customer Review from the drop-down menu as shown below:
While this does give you a fair estimate of the best-reviewed products, it’s not exactly what we’re want to look for.
The average customer review is calculated by Amazon based on a number of factors such as how recent the ratings are and verified purchase status, etc.
It’s not a simple average but rather it’s based on complicated machine-learning models that try their best to establish the authenticity of the reviews.
However, if you’re looking to just sort from high to low based on the number of reviews a product has, you can’t do so on Amazon without the help of third-party extensions.
Below, we’ve listed some of the best chrome extensions you can get for free in order to easily sort products based on their review counts.
Trusty Search Assistant for Amazon
The Trusty Search Assistant for Amazon is a great tool that shoppers can utilize not only to sort products by the number of reviews but also for many other functions.
Not only can you sort by the number of reviews but you can also set a review count threshold for your search results on Amazon. This would mean that only products that have above a certain number of reviews will be shown to you.
So, for example, if you don’t want to see products that have less than 30 reviews, you can do so through this chrome extension.
In addition to this, it also allows you to view up to 30 product pages at a time through scrolling which can save you the hassle of switching between product detail pages.
The free Chrome extension works in a number of Amazon regions including:
- Amazon.com
- Amazon.in
- Amazon.co.uk
- Amazon.ca
- Amazon.de
Sort by Number of Reviews, for Amazon
The Sort by Number of Reviews, for the Amazon chrome extension, is specifically made for this one function.
In order to use it, all you have to do is search for a product or go to a specific category and then click on the icon for the chrome extension as shown below:
Once you do so, the items will be sorted according to the number of reviews from high to low:
Sort by Item Review Count for Amazon
Our last option is Sort by Item Review Count for Amazon which is another free extension for Chrome.
You use this extension the same way you used the previous one: All you have to do is to navigate to the Amazon search results page and then click on the icon of the extension.
However, there’s one thing you need to note:
These extensions are fairly janky. Hence, they can bug out and not work properly.
So, in order to ensure that this extension works as intended, it’s a good idea to first go into the specific category for the product you want to search for before actually searching for it.
For example, if you want to buy diapers for your newborn, go into the Baby & Child Care category first and then search for “diapers”.
Then, when you’re at the search results page, click on the icon of the extension in order to sort the previewed items according to the number of reviews from high to low.
It’s a good idea to do this for the “Sort by Number of Reviews, for Amazon” extension as well since it was fairly buggy when we tested it.
Going through this method of first going to the specific category and then sorting seemed to fix this issue for both of these extensions.
Which Free Chrome Extension is the Best?
Out of the three chrome extensions that we have tested above, the Trusty Search Assistant for Amazon is definitely the best one of the bunch.
It’s not as buggy as the other two and tends to work properly regardless of how you access the search results on Amazon.
Furthermore, in addition to sorting by the number of reviews, the extension has a ton of other useful features for Amazon shoppers.
We especially love how you can use it to scroll up to 30 product pages without having to individually go to every single one of them.
All of us know the frustration of switching between product detail pages when comparing prices and this extension does a great job of making that process much easier.
Wrapping Things Up…
So, that’s how you can sort items by the number of reviews on Amazon.
Amazon used to have this option back in the day but it was removed in recent years in favor of the “Avg. Customer Review” option.
While that option is fairly useful too, some customers just want the most popular products that have been reviewed by the highest number of users.
Sadly, there’s no way to do it through Amazon anymore but these extensions are the next best thing.
