- Download and install the Amazon Prime Video app on a Philips Smart TV that does not have Google Play Store

Let’s get into it.
Using the Amazon Prime Video App on a Philips Smart TV with Google Play Store
If you’ve bought a Philips Smart TV in recent years, you’re lucky because they come with access to the Google Play Store.
Since these Philips Smart TVs run on a version of the Android OS, you can download any app you want from the Play Store and use it.
This, of course, includes the Amazon Prime app.
Follow these steps to install Amazon Prime on Your Philips Smart TV:
Step 1: Turn on your Philips Smart TV and tap on the Google Play Store icon.
Step 2: Tap the Download button and the Amazon Prime app will be downloaded and installed onto your Philips Smart TV.
Step 3: From the main menu of your Philips Smart TV, click on the Amazon Prime Video app icon in order to launch it.
Step 4: Enter your Amazon account credentials and start watching whatever you want.
Using the Amazon Prime Video App on a Philips Smart TV without Google Play Store
Older versions of the Philips Smart TV don’t come preloaded with the Play Store app.
In this case, you’ll have to manually download the Amazon Prime app and install it on your Philips Smart TV.
Here’s how you can do so:
Step 1: On your PC or laptop, open your preferred browser and go to this download link for the Amazon Prime Video app for smart televisions.
Step 2: Once the .apk file is downloaded, copy it onto a USB drive or external hard drive or any storage device that can be connected to your Philips Smart TV.
Step 3: Connect the external storage device to your Philips Smart TV via one of its USB ports.
Step 4: Use the Philips Smart TV’s file manager to navigate to the directory of the external storage device you have connected.
Step 5: Navigate to the downloaded .apk file and tap on it. You’ll see a button that says “Install”, click on it.
Once you do this, your Philips Smart TV will start to install the Amazon Prime app onto it.
Step 6: Once Amazon Prime Video is successfully installed, it will show up in the Apps section of your Philips Smart TV. Navigate to it and tap it in order to launch it.
Step 7: Enter your Amazon account credentials and start enjoying the content offered by Amazon Prime Video.
Using the Amazon Prime Video App on an Older Philips TV
If you want to watch Amazon Prime Video on an older Philips TV, this might be a bit of a challenge since they don’t run on Android OS.
You may have to invest in some external hardware if you want to enjoy Amazon Prime Video on it.
There are a number of ways to watch Amazon Prime Video on older TVs. Some of which are:
HDMI and a Laptop
If you have a laptop, you can purchase an HDMI cable to connect it to your older Philips TV.
This is assuming that your older TV has an HDMI port.
If your TV has an HDMI port, all you need is an HDMI cable which you can find easily on Amazon.
Once you have the HDMI cable, all you need to do is connect your laptop to your TV using it and then cast your laptop’s screen onto your TV.
Then, you can log in from your laptop onto Amazon Prime and enjoy.
Chromecast
If you have a smartphone, you can invest in a Chromecast to cast content onto your old Philips TV.
Simply connect the Chromecast to your old Philips TV using its HDMI port.
Next, download the Google Home app onto your smartphone and use it to connect your smartphone to your Chromecast.
You can now cast content onto your old Philips TV through your smartphone.
Log into Amazon Prime Video through your smartphone and start watching whatever you want.
Amazon Fire TV Stick
You can also invest in an Amazon Fire TV stick to stream content not just from Amazon Prime Video but many other apps on your old Philips TV.
It connects easily to your TV via its HDMI port.
Once that’s done, you can use its remote to access different streaming services such as Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, Netflix, HBO Max, and much more.
What if My Old Philips TV Doesn’t Have an HDMI Port?
All of the methods we’ve described above require your TV to have an HDMI port.
However, with older model TVs, this may not always be the case.
Older TVs have RCA ports rather than HDMI ports.
In this case, you’ll have to invest in an HDMI-to-RCA converter alongside whichever of the three methods we’ve described above (Laptop, Chromecast, or Amazon Fire TV Stick).
You can easily find an HDMI-to-RCA converter on Amazon.
Important note: Make sure that you buy an HDMI-to-RCA converter and not an RCA-to-HDMI converter.
This is important because the input signal is HDMI and is coming from the external device (laptop, Chromecast, or Amazon Fire TV stick).
The HDMI signal then needs to be converted to RCA so that your old Philips TV can process it and output it to you.

We hope you were able to set up and watch Amazon Prime Video on your Philips TV after going through this post.
